Plastic Fantastic?

Plastic: Once a miracle invention, today increasingly seen as a problem. It’s one of the talking points at the current World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. How now?

Read the following words and phrases and their definitions.

• talking point - a particular subject, idea, etc., that is part of a discussion
• single-use plastic - plastic that is used only one time and then thrown away
• to cause serious issues - to make serious problems happen
• landfill sites - areas where waste is buried under the ground
• litter - things that have been thrown away and that are lying on the ground in a public place
• recyclable - such that it can be made into something new and then be used again
